An Evening with Kayla Cagan and Marie Marquardt
Happy 2018! We’re doing an author event at Brazos Bookstore in my hometown Houston, on March 5th at 7pm and we’re hoping you can join us for the fun!
Marie Marquardt is a Scholar-in-Residence at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology and author of Dream Things True. She has published articles and co-authored two non-fiction books about Latin American immigration to the U.S. South. Marie is co-chair of El Refugio, a non-profit that serves detained immigrants and their families, and a member of the We Need Diverse Books team. She lives in a busy household in Decatur, Georgia with her spouse, four children, a dog and a bearded dragon.
Kayla Cagan’s debut novel PIPER PERISH, was described as “soulful reading for any artistic teen with a dream,” by Booklist. She has published monologues and plays for children and teens in anthologies from Applause Books and Smith and Kraus, and has written in two award winning comic books, WOMANTHOLOGY and UNITE AND TAKE OVER: COMIC STORIES INSPIRED BY THE SMITHS. Her next novel, ART BOSS, also with Chronicle Books, is out in Fall 2018. Cagan’s a Texan-New Yorker who lives in Los Angeles with her hilarious husband and very serious chihuahua.
