Already the group has some 26,000 members. I read AMERICAN STREET and MARLENA back to back. I didn’t know they were both set in Michigan. I didn’t know they both dealt with broken and rearranged families and drug use and abuse and who gets caught and who doesn’t and how the two teen protagonists, Fabiola (Fab) and Catherine (Cat), are both relocated to Michigan. I didn’t know they both dealt with death and absent fathers. Though the book covers are nothing alike, these 2 stories share excellent writing about young girls in the everyday, quiet, crisis of their lives.  I love them both so much and can’t recommend this not-obvious pairing enough. I was terrified for both of these girls and they broke my heart and now they’ll stay with me for a long time. BRING ON THE DRAMA! School is back in session for a lot of kiddos, which means I’m getting email requests for audition material from a lot of nervous parents and excited drama teachers. This is my mom’s backyard at about 9:00am PST in Montgomery, outside of #Houston. That’s overflow water from the nearby lake. She’s one of the lucky ones because her home is still intact as of now, but a lot of #Texans are suffering far worse. The Red Cross and Global Giving are taking donations. Please help if you can. In excellent company in 🇩🇪! #Repost @inas.little.bakery Gestern nach der Spätschicht erwarteten mich VIER Buchpäckchen und was drin war, zeige ich euch jetzt mit diesem suboptimalen Bild 👉 Talking as fast as I can von Lauren Graham, für mich als jahrzehntelanger Gilmorefan ein absolutes MUSS!!! 👉 Piper Perish von Kayla Cagan, über das Buch hab ich bisher nur Gutes gelesen, bin sehr gespannt ob es mir gefallen wird. 👉 So klingt dein Herz von Cecelia Ahern, habe ich im Rahmen der Fischer Lesechallenge auf Lovelybooks gewonnen, lese es also gemeinsam mit anderen, vielleicht ja auch mit dir?! Freue mich sehr darauf, denn das Buch klingt ein bisschen schräg aber auch herzig und ich hab lange nix von Cecelia Ahern gelesen. 👉 Undergroundrailroad von Colson Whitehead, erzählt eine Geschichte bei der mich schon die Leseprobe fesseln konnte. Es geht um, sehr allgemein ausgedrückt, Sklaverei in den USA des 18. Jahrhunderts. Es geht um Freiheit, um Familie und darum was es auch heute noch bedeutet in den USA schwarz zu sein. Ich bin supersuperneugierig auf Coras Geschichte. Das Buch wurde im Übrigen mit dem Pulitzer Preis ausgezeichnet, meine Erwartungen sind also dementsprechend hoch. What a lovely post from 🇩🇪! #Repost @szebrabooks [English version below⬇] Einen Tag zu spät, weil ich gestern vergessen habe das Bild zu machen, aber gestern ist dieses wundervolle Buch im Fischer Verlag erschienen😊💖 Inhalt: Piper, ihr Freund Enzo und ihre beste Freundin Kit haben keine Lust, normal zu sein. Sie wollen das Leben fühlen, ihren Träumen folgen, sich von nichts aufhalten lassen. Und sie wollen nach New York, wo all das möglich scheint. Doch kurz bevor die Schule endlich vorbei ist, geht alles schief: Kit fällt durch die Aufnahmeprüfung für die Kunsthochschule, Piper wird zwar angenommen, aber ihre Eltern können die Studiengebühren nicht aufbringen. Und Pipers große Liebe Enzo gesteht ihr, dass er sich verliebt hat – in einen Jungen.  Alle Träume zerplatzen, Pipers Pläne sind plötzlich nur noch Chaos und Zweifel, aber dickköpfig hält sie daran fest. So, yesterday was the release date of the German version of “Piper Perish” by Kayla Cagan. I just forgot to post it😊💖 Content: Now is the time for fearlessness. Who are you now? Piper Perish inhales air and exhales art. The sooner she and her best friends Enzo and Kit can get out of Houston and get into art school in New York City, the better. It’s been Piper’s dream her whole life, and now that senior year is halfway over, she’s never felt more ready. Who will you become? But in the final months before graduation, life’s got Piper a little more breathless. Things are weird with Kit and awful with Enzo; art school is looking increasingly impossible; three different guys have each claimed a different piece of Piper’s heart; and Piper’s sister’s tyrannical mental state seems to thwart every attempt at happiness for the Perish family. Piper’s art just might be enough to get her out. But is she strong enough—and brave enough—to seize that power, even if it means giving up what she’s always known? I got the book as an ARC and I already read it. I really enjoyed reading the book and I can recommend it.
